Purpose: Sports halls and gyms
Introduction:
In the history of the development of sports halls, the principle of universal use of these facilities has developed. Small halls and gymnasiums with dimensions, for example, are often used for gymnastics, and are generally provided with gymnastic wall bars on at least one side wall. Gymnastic ladders are the basic element that allows you to perform many gymnastic exercises.
In the case of large auditoriums, it becomes necessary to design an auditorium in the facility, allowing the audience to participate in sports struggles.
It is standard to design one main arena, with pitches for all sports, with training pitches placed transversely, located in two or three sectors. In general, the axis of the pitch is shifted, telescopic stands are designed on one side, and wall-mounted ladders are placed on the other side. The transverse sectors are separated by dividing curtains or nets that are opened or lowered for the duration of the use of the training pitches. The telescopic stands extend when there is a need to play on the main fields, while their sliding together allows the use of only transverse training fields, but does not create new space for gymnastics, because the telescopic stands, when pushed together, take up min. 120 cm wide, and the ladders are located on the opposite side of the hall and cannot be accessed from the stands.
Thus, the training pitches can be used by as many groups as the number of sectors. Each sector is used for a different purpose, and it is not possible to use the sector at the same time, e.g. for playing volleyball and for gymnastics with the use of wall-mounted ladders, which are placed opposite the stands, in the area of use of the playing fields.
Converted ladder-stand system
Therefore, after many years of observing the trends in the design and use of sports halls, the idea of full use of the space after folding the stands as a gymnastics sector, equipped with gymnastic wall bars, was born.
Thanks to the use of the converted ladder-stands system, in addition to two or three transverse sectors, another fully functional sector is created, with a width sufficient to conduct exercises, equipped with a full line of wall ladders, and at the same time – after the ladders are converted into stands – the hall functions as an entertainment venue -sports.
Converted tribune-ladder systems can be placed both along the hall axis, creating a side auditorium, and on one or both of the hall gables, thus creating successive sectors of sports halls, separated from the sports field zone by a barrier net.
Safety and comfort of using the additional sector for gymnastics
In order to fully protect the users of the gymnastic sector, between it and the sectors of training fields, a ball-hold is installed made of a protective net with a load on the lower edge, with the possibility of sliding to the sides or lifting it up through an electric drive system. This net, with the mesh size of at least 10×10 cm, is also used to protect viewers from ball hits while observing the games.
If there is a need for complete acoustic separation of the created sector from the playing field zone, it is suggested to install two-layer dividing curtains made of PVC, with an aluminum system of connecting panels, which allows for sound absorption up to 22 dB, which will allow activities requiring silence and concentration, or with your own sound source, e.g. fitness classes.
Benefits
Thanks to the use of the converted ladder-stands system, both in newly designed and renovated sports halls, it is possible to add an additional group of hall users on the same area and volume, while maintaining all the functions and sporting and entertainment parameters of the facility. In the case of 2 or 3 sector halls, the increase in the number of possible simultaneous users of the facility may even reach 50%, which will significantly translate into profitability of investments in sports halls.
System description:
The design of the system is based on an advanced mechanism that allows for two positions.
- Raised position – in this position the structure of the stand is folded, the system serves as a series of wall gymnastic wall bars.
- Lowered position, in this position the system is used as an auditorium with a 5-tier stand.
Construction:
Converted ladder-stands are made in the form of 200 cm long modules. Modules are installed to the side wall. The structure is based on the main frame and a tilting frame system with fully integrated structural elements. The main wall frame and tilt frames are made of closed steel profiles 35×35 and 40×40 mm, other structural elements are made of specially profiled sheet metal elements, laser cut and bent to obtain the appropriate shape.
Lifting and lowering is carried out by a 230V / 400W single-phase electric motor, driving the roller-cable lifting system.
Optionally, when installing multiple modules in a single string, one common 3x400V / 750W three-phase motor is used to drive the rotary shaft which runs all modules in the string. This ensures easy and synchronous assembly of many modules at the same time.
Gymnastic ladders
Each module is equipped with two fields of gymnastic wall bars, 90 cm wide and 280 cm usable. 17-rung ladders, sides are made of pine coniferous wood varnished 3 times, rungs are made of special 40×30 mm parallel-layer plywood (strength up to 200 kg). Gymnastic ladders meet the requirements of PN-EN 12346: 2001, PN-EN 913: 2008 and DIN EN 7910.
Grandstand audience
The stands are made of 15 mm plywood, the risers are made of 10 mm plywood, all upholstery plywood is chamfered and painted with a colorless varnish. Both the platforms and the risers are made without holes, no metal elements of the construction mechanisms are visible from the front of the stand, no metal parts protrude, which makes the surface aesthetic and uniform.
Users of the stands can sit directly on the platform, while optionally, the seats can be covered with upholstery elements 2 cm thick and 30 cm wide, made of foam covered with synthetic leather or flame-retardant upholstery material with a weight of 320 g / m2, abrasion resistance 83 00 cycles according to the test Martindale. Other materials available on special request.
Safety barriers
After the stands are unfolded, steps are added and at the ends of the lines, removable safety barriers are installed.

In order to match the client’s requirements, as well as to the architectural parameters of the sports hall, we offer stands and ladder-stands in many versions of surface finishing after lifting:
- The version with openwork ladders
- Version with ladders masked with a cover plate.
- Version without ladders with a flat front plate.
As standard, the front panels are made of 12 mm thick varnished plywood, on request, it is possible to use other materials, e.g. HPL boards, MDF boards, furniture boards, etc. in any color and texture.
Varieties of dimensions of stands and stands-ladders.
In order to meet the client’s requirements, as well as to match the stands to the architectural parameters of the facility, we offer a wide customization of the stands and the ladder-stands, with the possibility of adjusting the number of rows and selection of elements.
